Member Spotlight- Sherrye Hutcherson
Sherrye Hutcherson has served as Executive Vice President at Bellevue University since 2018. In her role, Sherrye participates in the development of the University’s strategic plan and oversees strategy and policy related to the strategic focus area “Building Our People and Culture.” Since her arrival, the University has continued to achieve record-setting enrollment and is now one of the top 20 online universities nationally. The University’s employees have also rated it a “Great College to Work For” three years in a row, achieving honor roll status in every category on the most recent results. Sherrye’s success in her role at Bellevue University is a culmination of a career and personal values that put community, equity and integrity at the forefront.
Sherrye is also a strong community advocate. Her current and past Board affiliations include: The Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce and its THRIVE initiative, Urban League of Nebraska, Children’s Hospital and Medical Center of Omaha, United Way of the Midlands, Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska, Women’s Center for Advancement (WCA), Human Resources National Policy Association, Brownell Talbot College Preparatory School, and, most recently, Boys Town.
Sherrye pulls strength and guidance from her relationship with God and strong family bonds. She hopes to bring that same judgment-free, openness to her interactions with members of Nebraska Black Women United. Sherrye wants others to know that they can come to her for mentorships, help promoting something that they are working on, as a support system and as a friend. She also wants others to know that she is someone who you can share your gifts and abilities with as well. She is always honored to have an opportunity to learn from others.

Sherrye has invited friends, family and many in her network to join Nebraska Black Women United. She is proud to be a member of and advocate for this initiative that that brings Black women together to uplift and celebrate one another. Sherrye is a firm believer that there is never a need to put others down to uplift ourselves and she knows that there is enough space for us all to rise together!
